After visiting 26 various doctors and clinics to get help for a myriad of debilitating symptoms related to Lyme disease and a very rare autoimmune condition, I was desperate for any kind of solution. I spent an enormous amount of money to no avail (RIFE, PEMF, Herbals, and more) and eventually had to go on disability. My goal was to find someone who successfully recovered from this horrid condition and try a protocol that actually worked! Healthy eating can improve a variety of health problems and weight issues. One of the primary causes of a lowered immune system and weight gain is due to food intolerances. The primary food culprits are wheat, dairy, corn, potatoes, and tomatoes. Some will affect certain individuals more than others. A food intolerance is not an allergy but rather a particular food that is not broken down and digested properly. The food itself is not a "bad" food but rather the case of the body reacting "badly" to it. One of the reasons that a person develops food intolerances is due to the over consumption of the same foods day after day. Oftentimes the offending food is one that a person craves! What most people don't realize is that poorly digested food will lead to imbalances in the gut that cause the body to fight against itself leaving one vulnerable to: chronic fatigue, digestive disturbances, auto-immune disorders, slow metabolism, weight gain, allergies, asthma and a myriad of diseases. Avoiding these primary foods will result in almost immediate weight loss and an improvement in overall health. Try limiting all of these at once or at least start with one. If you are trying to lose weight and regain your health, I highly recommend avoiding these common foods. Substitute wheat with other healthy grains such as brown rice, oats, and quinoa. Soy or Almond milk is an excellent alternative to cow's milk. There are many delicious new products made with non-GMO soy. Check labels and avoid products that contain small amounts of these foods as well. Contrary to popular belief, whole wheat can cause more problems in the case of food intolerance that regular wheat. Whole wheat contains more nutrients and fiber, but is higher in gluten and will result in weight gain for most! Avoid wheat altogether if you are trying to lose weight.
Artificial Sweeteners can cause weight gain and in higher amounts than cane sugar. Once considered healthy and for the diet and weight conscious individual, these chemicals are the culprits of weight gain and are even hazardous to health! Sweeteners such as Splenda and NutraSweet in diet sodas and many foods cause an insulin spike that stimulates the body to store fat. Even though they may contain zero calories, this doesn't matter to the body as it prepares to communicate to our fat cells to store more fat from the food that we do eat! So not only are you gaining more weight but you are also stimulating your appetite MORE with these chemicals and setting yourself up to crave MORE of these sweetened beverages and foods! A crazy cycle repeats round and round with more cravings and more consumption and more weight gain! All the while you think you are doing something to lose weight. The use of these are addicting and dangerous with reports of many profound side effects. Reports of headaches, seizures and sleep disorders are just a few of the problems amidst the long list of side effects that adversely affect our health. Studies show that even regular soda intake causes less weight gain than diet sodas! I don't recommend regular soda either as it contains high amounts of sugar and high fructose corn syrup that is linked to cancer.
What I do recommend is spring water, seltzer water, homemade iced teas no sugar, and if you are looking for a healthier alternative bubbly soda then try Zevia brand sodas made with stevia. Stevia and Xylitol are the only no calorie natural sweeteners that I recommend if you need a little sweetness in your life! These won't cause weight gain or health issues. Remember that another name for Splenda is sucralose and another name for NutraSweet is aspartame! Read the fine print on those nutrition labels! I recently went into a supposedly organic restaurant where the manager insisted that his sodas where all natural and organic with no artificial sweeteners, but with zero calories! I asked if he could please look up the ingredients only for him to find sucralose on the label in his office. He did not know this was Splenda and was a bit flabbergasted when I told him. When in doubt ASK!
